A.V. Club LGBTQ Podcast Panel Social Media

In the wake of the murder of George Floyd and the vocal opposition from Black Lives Matter movement the reality television community began to speak out how minorities and people of LGBTQ are represented on television. To bring attention to this concern a panel of former Survivor LGBTQ contestants were brought together by the online news organization the A.V. Club for a podcast to voice their experiences, concerns and ideas. The podcast would be streamed on the A.V. Clubs platform and Rob Has A Podcast, a prominent podcasting news source covering all things reality television.

The project included creating social media designs to promote the podcast. Using the pride flag as inspiration I wanted to focus on the use of multiple colors. This led me to incorporate different color backgrounds for each panelist. An inside symbolism was incorporated as each person was had a background color that match the tribe color they were on. I also wanted to incorporate a grunge feel and beach setting that would mimic Survivor’s own design aesthetic.

The final products included a post to be used across Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, a banner for the A.V. Club and Rob Has A Podcast to use and lastly a full screen Instagram story. As of July 22, 2020 the panel has had over 5,100 views and I had even received a design credit directly from the A.V. Club in a blog covering the podcast.
