After the eighth season was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic many feared the show wouldn’t return. However, it came roaring back pledging a more diverse cast and this cast delivered. To celebrate the season coming to a close I developed an illustration featuring the season nine cast and host, Arisa Cox.
Deviating from the usual sharp line style used on previous illustrations I used airbrushes to make it look more lifelike. With Arisa being the host I wanted her to be the standout so I made her fully colored and the rest of the cast overlaid in red. Lastly, Big Brother Canada has a theme they use incorporating sleek and smooth lines, so I wanted to deviate by adding the a grunge shape for the background which served as a focal point.
When I posted it to social media it was quickly picked up being shared and praised- by the cast, production and even reposted by the shows official account.
