Survivor Diversity Campaign: Black History Month Social Media Posts

The Survivor Diversity Campaign began in summer 2020 alongside the Black Lives Matter movement with former players from the CBS show Survivor organizing to call upon CBS to include people of diversity on the show. After previously working on the LGBTQ podcast panel podcast the head of the campaign reached out asking for assistance with the campaign. This includes design posts and other data documents to present in meetings. Since the campaign inception it has spread to call upon other reality shows such as The Bachelor with Survivor and Big Brother making a full pledge to make all its casts going forward 50% people of color.

With February being Black History Month I was asked to develop some posts to commemorate the occasion. Part of the guidelines for the project included including as many images of the Survivor players, logo and approved color scheme or black, red, yellow and green. For the first post I focused on the island theme because of Survivor and then took the headline and included a picture of a contestant in each letter in the headline. Each word held a different color scheme making the headline really stand out.

For the second piece I wanted to pay homage to a previous cover banner used for the campaigns Twitter profile. Recreating the banner I was able to include more images of the contestants instead of picking and choosing certain ones. This also gave me the chance to include more color with instead of color being confined to the words it takes up the images. Lastly I chose a font more Serif font to match the brightness of the piece.
